Alex Mercer, beloved mentor to many Unitarian Universalists

Visionary, husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather died in Ann Arbor, MI on June 8th. He was 81.

Alex is survived by his wife of 57 years: Bessie D.; daughters: Erica M. and K. Linnea; son-in-law: Mark A. White; grandchildren: Meghan M. and John A. White; brothers: William (Muriel) and John (Marilyn); and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He grew up in Highland Park and Detroit with parents Richard and Margaret, along with his late sister, Dolly. A veteran of WWII and the Detroit Public Schools, Alex's commitment to the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Detroit spanned his life, and a memorial service will be held there, in the sanctuary, this Saturday, June 16 at 1:00 p.m. Donations can be made to the 1st UU of Detroit, located at Cass and Forest.
